The New Jersey School Board Association’s STEAM Tank Challenge is back for another exciting year. School districts are invited to turn public school students’ creativity, curiosity, and innovative ideas into real-world solutions.

This year’s theme, “Turning Ideas into Action for a Better Tomorrow,” challenges students to look beyond the classroom, identify problems that matter to their schools and communities, and develop solutions that can make a meaningful difference.

At its core, STEAM Tank is about student achievement through authentic, hands-on learning. Students apply what they are learning in the classroom to  developing critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving skills – skills essential to preparing students for success beyond high school.

Students are given an opportunity to take ownership of their learning. They become researchers, designers, innovators, and decision-makers working to solve a problem. They ask questions, test ideas, overcome obstacles and communicate their thinking to address  any challenge they are passionate about such as sustainability, accessibility, health, technology, and community needs to create change.

STEAM Tank is more than a competition, it is a call to action to imagine what is possible.. New Jersey’s public schools are preparing students today to be the problem-solvers, creators, entrepreneurs, and leaders who will shape the future.
