National Arts in Education Week, designated for Sept. 9- 15 this year, recognizes the transformative power of the arts in education. Designated by Congress in 2010, the celebration is aimed at bringing attention to the principle that the arts are an essential part of a complete education and fostering support equitable access to the arts for all students.

In New Jersey, there will be a special event to celebrate National Arts in Education Week, to be held Sept. 12 from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the NJPSA & FEA Conference Center, 12 Centre Drive, Monroe Township. This event is sponsored by the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association (NJPSA) and Arts Ed NJ, in collaboration with the Arts & Education Center.

The celebration will include the New Jersey State Teen Arts Traveling Exhibition, special performances by teen artists from the state, and the opportunity to network with educators, school board members, professional artists, principals, supervisors, superintendents, arts advocates and more. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.
