The Emergency Connectivity Fund: What School Districts Should Know

The Federal Communications Commission recently unveiled its Emergency Connectivity Fund Program designed to enable schools and libraries to buy laptop and tablet computers and to establish Wi-Fi hotspots and broadband connectivity during the pandemic.

The FCC’s May 11 action includes more than $7 billion to specifically close the nationwide homework gap associated with distance learning as a direct result of COVID-19. Congress created the fund as part of the American Rescue Plan Act.

Our NJSBA TEC partner, E-rate Consulting, Inc., will explain the program’s rules, help you determine your district’s eligibility for the new program and provide tips for a successful funding application process, slated to begin in June.
