The Educational Leadership Foundation of New Jersey (ELFNJ), in cooperation with NJSBA and NJEdge, hosted a training program on Dec. 12, 2019 to address the need for enhanced cybersecurity in schools.

The all-day program was offered at no-cost to all public school leaders and district staff interested in learning more about building a cyber-secure environment for their schools.

Ransomware, malware, and other cybersecurity threats have already struck New Jersey school districts, large and small. The holistic view of the cybersecurity environment included:

  • The cybersecurity threat landscape;
  • The elements of ransomware attacks, plus tools and tactics to stop them;
  • Proactively protecting schools; and
  • Strategies to build an effective cybersecurity budget.

Presented by Adam Scarzafava, associate vice president for marketing and communications with NJEdge, and representatives from ELFNJ donor New Jersey Schools Insurance Group, the program was designed to enable district leadership teams to conceptualize improvements to IT systems and operational practices.

Thank you to our partners and donors for their dedication to cybersecurity in New Jersey’s schools!
