The New Jersey School Boards Association is implementing aggressive precautions to ensure the health and safety of our members and staff in response to the COVID-19 situation.

All Events Cancelled

NJSBA is canceling or postponing all conferences, meetings and events through April 30. Current registrants are being contacted directly concerning program cancellations. Every attempt will be made to reschedule training programs and other events to later dates.

We will determine the status of programs and events scheduled for May 1 and later as we continually assess the situation.

Our decision aligns with the Governor’s declaration of a “public health emergency” and his recommendation concerning the cancellation of public events.

NJSBA events affected by this decision include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • County school boards association meetings, including student recognition programs. Many of these events have already been cancelled or postponed at the request of host school districts and county association officers.
  • Training programs, including the GPS for Visionary Leadership weekend (April 24-26), the Annual Communications Forum (April 3), A Common Vision and Commitment to Special Education (April 22), and in-person Governance I (April 28).

Please note that members wishing to complete state-mandated training will continue to have access to the online Governance I, II, III and IV programs at https://www.njsba.org/training/mandated-training/.

Staff Working Remotely

Beginning on Monday, March 16 and until further notice, most NJSBA staff members will work remotely from home. This requirement will continue as long as necessary to ensure the health and safety of our staff.

During this period, NJSBA will continue to provide all consultative and informational services to our members. These services include, but are not limited to, the Attorney-of-the-Day, School Board Notes, telephone consultation with labor relations, policy and field services staff, and online resources.

Onsite, in-district services will be provided to the best of our ability under these unique circumstances.

We will continue to provide updates on all developments concerning programming, services, and resources through School Board Notes and our other communications vehicles.

Thank you for your understanding and your continued support during this challenging period.
