Local education agency personnel providing McKinney-Vento services are invited to participate in professional development to better meet the needs of children and youths experiencing homelessness, according to a memo from the New Jersey Department of Education.

The New Jersey Department of Education is offering a level one liaison training program and a level two program. The courses will be offered online and are free.

Participants will learn about identification, enrollment, dispute resolution, transportation, and more under the McKinney-Vento Act to help move students toward stability and success. Upon completion of each online course, participants earn a certificate that can count toward professional development hours. The courses are now available for all district liaisons.

For additional information please contact the McKinney-Vento program coordinator at (609) 376-3515 or Mckinney.Vento@doe.nj.gov.
