The New Jersey Safe Schools Program  wants to remind New Jersey school stakeholders of a low administrative cost opportunity for growing local and county programs in the new school year.

NJSS is implementing a special grant-funded initiative in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Education. The goal is to provide teachers free work-based learning, supervisory trainings for career and technical education and work-based learning in nonhazardous occupations throughout New Jersey via targeted recruitment. Teachers will represent the state, with equal opportunity by region (north, central and south) with additional opportunities for teachers in larger urban/suburban populations serving historically underrepresented minority, low-middle income students.

Eligible teachers are endorsed in CTE, architecture and construction, agricultural education, business and/or family and consumer sciences and must take a set of online courses.  Access and submit the application form.

Please note: If you previously completed the four required courses for WBL, formerly school-sponsored structured learning experiences, then you do not need to retake the courses. If you apply and are not eligible for this opportunity, then NJSS will contact you and provide more information to register for its regular WBL training cohorts, held through July 2022 and again in early fall 2022, at a reduced cost. Other topical courses are available at no cost.

NJSS in collaboration with state agencies has a number of credible resources regarding COVID-19. Live updates, announcements, health information and services and resources for at-home student learning can be accessed for free online.
