On Monday, March 26, Dr. Lamont O. Repollet was unanimously confirmed as state Commissioner of Education by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The confirmation now moves to the full Senate for a vote.

Legislative Update: Senate Adds $250 Million in School Security Grants to Bond Issue, Approves Package of Student Nutrition Measures
The state Senate approved a package of bills intended to promote student health and nutrition, and approved the addition of $250 million in school security grants to pending legislation intended to expand the state’s county vocational technical schools.
The New Jersey School Boards Association has teamed up with Steven Van Zandt's Rock and Roll Forever Foundation to produce a student documentary film festival, to be held at the Workshop 2018 conference this October.
On Friday, May 4, the New Jersey School Boards Association will host Student Achievement through Multiple Lenses, a training program that examines student achievement from various perspectives.
Students were highlighted at county school boards association meetings in Salem and Hudson counties.
NJSBA, in collaboration with NASA, is hosting its fifth all-day, hands-on integrative STEAM program Friday, April 27, at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.
NJSBA’s Analyzing and Constructing Salary Guides program was held on March 23 and 24.
