Salary Guide 101

Feel confident and prepared next time you head to the bargaining table. It is critical that those serving on public boards of education thoroughly understand salary guide structures and potential implications prior to negotiating with school district labor groups.

Salary guides are used to compensate teachers and most other school district employees throughout New Jersey. They affect the district’s bottom line and can impact future negotiations and salary programs.

In this training session, school officials will learn how salary guides can affect a board’s ability to attract new hires, retain excellent employees, encourage continuing education and professional development, and appropriately compensate staff to remain competitive.

Iowa Lighthouse Series 101 and 201

(Two-part program, sessions to be taken in order)

The Iowa Lighthouse Inquiry provides school boards with guidance and research-based recommendations to increase their efficacy and positively impact student achievement.

Throughout this course, we will learn more about this research study that evaluated school board and superintendent behaviors over three-year academic years and their effect on student equity and classroom achievement.

Social Media: The Perils and Promise

This training course is a must-know for school officials who are active online. Learn how to balance your First Amendment right to express your personal opinion and the requirements of the New Jersey School Ethics Act concerning how your views are expressed.

The course is based on a popular annual Workshop conference program, which provided social media guidance for school board members. It will provide insights into the School Ethics Commission rules in the internet age discuss cases where school officials have been censured.
