The English Language Arts and Mathematics New Jersey Student Learning Standards are open for review and readoption in 2023, and stakeholders are invited to submit comments on proposed revisions, according to an advisory from the New Jersey Department of Education, which is required to review the standards pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:8-2.1(a)4.

Educators from across the state worked collaboratively to develop the proposed revisions over the past year. The following links take you to the proposed revisions.

You can also view the NJDOE presentation on the proposed revisions delivered at the State Board of Education on April 5, 2023 as well as at regional meetings:

Please note the documents follow the NJDOE’s style guide with respect to structuring administrative code rulemakings and related content. This includes the formatting of proposed deletions of text appearing in brackets, while new language appears in bold text. Presentations providing a broad overview of the process and specifics of each content area from the State Board of Education’s meetings in March and April 2023 can be found on the State Board of Education website.

The NJDOE welcomes stakeholder input. Written feedback can be submitted via email from April 5, 2023, until June 7, 2023.
