On Tuesday, March 26, the Hudson County School Boards Association honored 26 students from across the county as “Unsung Heroes” at the Arthur F. Couch Performing Arts Center at Secaucus High School in Secaucus.

The Hudson County Unsung Heroes included 26 twelfth-grade students from high schools across Hudson County. Unsung Heroes make outstanding contributions to their schools and communities, even though they are often overlooked under traditional student recognition guidelines. Unsung Heroes can be students who make their school a better place because of their warm personality, their empathy and concern for others. They tend not to let obstacles stop them. About 150 people turned out to recognize their achievements and contributions.

HCSBA President Jose Soares attended along with HCSBA Second Vice President for Legislation Christopher Tisdale, and Hector Gonzalez Jr., an HCSBA member and a New Jersey School Boards Association board of directors’ delegate.

Ray Pinney, lead director of member training and engagement at the NJSBA, attended and gave greetings from the Association along with Patti Rees, an NJSBA field service representative; Jeanne Cleary, an NJSBA field service representative and Rob Acerra, county activities coordinator at NJSBA, who coordinated the logistics and planning of the event.
