The New Jersey School Boards Association is looking for students to sing, dance and perform music to energize the audience and, in some instances, kick off special events during the Association’s annual Workshop conference.

Co-hosted by the New Jersey Association of School Administrators and the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials, Workshop 2024 will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center from Monday, Oct. 21 through Thursday, Oct. 24. Selected student groups will perform Oct. 22 or Oct. 23.

Research links involvement in the fine and performing arts to improved school attendance and increased academic performance. Arts education is also correlated with positive social-emotional development in students. To highlight the NJSBA’s commitment to the arts, and the talent and skills of New Jersey public school students, Workshop will showcase several student performances throughout the conference.

This year’s retro theme art, “Quest for Student Success,” takes us on a nostalgic journey through the past to celebrate memorable trends and pop culture of the 1980s and early 1990s. Performances incorporating this theme, such as breakdancing, The Robot, and music hits are encouraged but not required.

Submission Details We urge your school to apply to perform at Workshop 2024. This could be your opportunity to shine a spotlight on your students in front of school officials from across New Jersey. Performance groups are limited to a maximum of 10 students.

All submissions will receive equal consideration. The deadline for submitting the completed Student Performance Submission Form is April 19, 2024.

Those submitting performances will be notified of the Association’s decision by mid-May 2024. For more information, contact Samantha Matias via email.
