The New Jersey Department of Education recently announced that School Number 5 of the Cliffside Park School District in Bergen County was named a 2024 National Elementary and Secondary Education Act Distinguished School.

School Number 5 is being recognized for excellence in serving its multilingual learner population of students.

“We congratulate Cliffside Park School Number 5 for earning this award,” said Dr. Angelica Allen-McMillan, acting commissioner of education. “This achievement serves as an example of how a school community can achieve with collaboration and dedication of the stakeholders, ranging from parents and teachers to school administrators and the students themselves.”

The 2024 ESEA Distinguished Schools Program is sponsored by the National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators. Schools are selected at the state level based on student progress and other ESEA indicators of school performance.

School Number 5 will receive up to $15,000 to support Title I programs and will also be recognized along with other ESEA Distinguished Schools from across the nation at the hybrid National Association of ESEA State Program Administrators Conference in February.
