Voters will head to the polls for a special election Dec. 14 to decide various school construction proposals.

Statewide, the New Jersey School Boards Association has learned of eight boards of education with construction questions on the ballot.

Statewide amount proposed: $186,740,023
State funding of proposed questions: $48,917,836.15

Under the Educational Facilities and Construction and Financing Act of 2000, the state will fund at least 40% of eligible school construction costs through annual debt service aid.

Here are the statewide figures gathered from the offices of the county clerks.

School Construction Proposals

Bergen County

Montvale Various improvements, alterations, renovations, upgrades and additions at Fieldstone Middle School and Memorial Elementary School, including acquisition and installation of fixtures, furniture, equipment and any site work.

Total amount proposed: $29,414,343
State funding: $8,421,491

Camden County

Audubon Various improvements, alterations, renovations, upgrades and additions at Haviland Elementary School, Mansion Elementary School and Audubon Jr./Sr. High School, including acquisition and installation of fixtures, furniture, equipment and any site work; and (b) to appropriate $27,810,551, partially funded by the $1 million in pandemic and energy relief funding.

The board may further offset the amount of bonds to be issued with any state and/or federal funds or grants available at the time of the bond issuance.

Eastern Camden Regional High School Heating, ventilation and air conditioning improvements, alterations, renovations and upgrades at Eastern Regional High School, including acquisition and installation of fixtures, equipment and any related site work.

Total amount proposed: $9,995,000
State funding: $3,998,000

Pennsauken Two proposals; Proposal 2 can only be approved if Proposal 1 is approved.

Proposal 1 Construction of a new addition and related site work at the Baldwin Elementary School; various other improvements and renovations, including replacement of the roof, upgrades to the HVAC and electrical systems at the Phifer Middle School;  other improvements, including renovations to the parking lot; the construction of new additions and related site work at the Pennsauken Township High School, in connection with the relocation of the Pennsauken Township Magnet High School to the high school in lieu of renovation of the Roosevelt Elementary School as previously contemplated. The proposal also includes the completion of other capital improvements including, but not limited to, renovations to the athletic fields, cafeteria and classrooms; and the completion of such other work and improvements, and acquisition of furniture, fixtures and equipment as may be necessary.

Proposal 2 (contingent upon approval of Proposal 1) Construction of a new athletic field and related site work at the Phifer Middle School; construction of a new indoor eight lane, 25 meter competition pool and related site work at the Pennsauken Township High School; the completion of other work and improvements, and acquisition of furniture, fixtures and equipment as may be necessary to the critical needs projects

Middlesex County

Cranbury Addition, renovations, alterations and improvements at the Cranbury School, including acquisition and installation of fixtures, furniture, furnishings, equipment, site work and related costs

Somerset County

Warren Township Fire alarm upgrades and safety improvement at all schools; HVAC upgrades at Central Elementary, Woodland Elementary, and Warren Middle Schools; door/hardware replacement at Central Elementary and Angelo L. Tomaso Elementary Schools; and lighting replacement and upgrades to science rooms at Warren Middle School.
