Irene LeFebvre, president of the New Jersey School Boards Association, wants to reassure members that the association is hard at work to find a new executive director.

Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, who has served as executive director for 10 years, announced last week that he would be retiring on July 1, 2022.

“We can’t ‘replace’ Dr. Feinsod, but what we will do is cast a broad net to find the right person to bring the right set of skills to NJSBA — skills that will ensure we continue all the progress that we’ve made under Dr. Feinsod’s stellar leadership,” LeFebvre said.

“We wish Larry all the best as he retires,” LeFebvre said. “May he and his wife, Sharon, share many years of health and happiness and endless travel and family joys!”

In upcoming weeks, an Executive Director Search Committee will be formed, LeFebvre said. That group will recommend a new executive director to the NJSBA Board of Directors, which must vote to approve the choice. NJSBA members will receive regular updates as the committee conducts its work, she said.

She added, “Those of you who know Larry can rest assured that his enthusiastic leadership will continue until his last day on the job. Meanwhile, I encourage members to celebrate the new year by attending the virtual county meetings, continuing the work of NJSBA committees and attending our trainings and webinars.”
