If you’re an educator, you know that social emotional learning changes lives. Studies show that SEL delivers long-term improvements in skills, behavior, and academic performance while reducing anxiety, depression, and substance abuse. SEL competencies are also critically important for long-term success in today’s economy.

But many New Jersey residents don’t know about the importance of SEL, which is why the Social Emotional Learning Alliance for New Jersey – known as SEL4NJ – is inviting members of the education community to participate in SEL DAY 2022.

The March 11 event gives the education community the chance to come together to showcase SEL, promote SEL, advocate for SEL and to support SEL in schools, organizations and communities.

This year’s event will focus on the following theme:  Finding Common Ground, Pursuing Common Good.

When you participate, you’ll be invited to create an artifact and share it out on social media with the hashtag (#SELday) on March 11th. The goal is to have #SELday trending worldwide. Participants should also tag SEL4NJ. Participants that create an artifact are encouraged to send a copy (be it a video, photo, blog, podcast, etc.) with the theme of the artifact in the subject line to SEL4NJ. Ideally the theme should be one or two words. Examples include kindness, connection, staff morale, student voice and respect. SEL4NJ will tweet and share the artifact on SEL Day.

The SELday website toolkit page has helpful information and material including logos, hashtags and press releases.
