Renate (Mueller) Lampe, 81, of North Haledon, a former member of the North Haledon Board of Education in Passaic County, died March 16.

Born in Konstanz, Germany to Fritz and Thea Mueller, she immigrated to the United States with her cousin in 1959 and moved to North Haledon in 1963.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Roy Lampe, in 1999. Before her retirement, she was the deputy clerk of Passaic County. She was formerly the tax collector in Haledon and in North Haledon.

Renate also was the former mayor of North Haledon from 1990 to 1998, a former council member in North Haledon from 1985 to 1987, was a member of the North Haledon Board of Education and the Republican Club of North Haledon. She was also a member of the Jaycetts of Haledon. Most importantly, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Renate will be remembered as the loving mother of Stewart Lampe and his wife, Rena, of North Haledon. She was the devoted grandmother of Sean and Nicholas. She also leaves behind her brother, Helmut Mueller, in Germany.

Arrangements are by the Vander Plaat – Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
