The current atmosphere is filled with challenges for those leading our schools. “Calming the Waters of Turbulent Seas,” scheduled for May 17, 2023, is the first of a series of leadership programs focused on meeting the needs of the members of the New Jersey School Boards Association.

This conference is aimed at equipping participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate the complex and dynamic world of educational leadership. Various topics will be covered in sessions such as:

  • Leadership in Turbulent Times.
  • How Welcome Are Your New Board Members?
  • Board President: Are You Leading or Managing?
  • Communicating With Your Community.
  • Unlocking Trust: Tools for Building Productive Relationships with Fellow Board Members.
  • Processes, Programs and Practices for Safety in School, Home and Community.

Every session will be led by education professionals from across New Jersey, who will share their knowledge and experience to create a well-rounded learning environment. Attending any of these sessions will help board members and district leaders develop and improve their leadership skills.

The conference will also feature Anthony “Skip” Cimino as its keynote speaker. Cimino served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1988-1992 as a representative of the 14th legislative district. One of his most notable bills signed into law was the nation’s first bicycle helmet law, requiring children under age 14 to wear helmets while riding. He also was a sponsor of the School Ethics Act, creating the School Ethics Commission.
