The New Jersey School Boards Association recently hired two new field service representatives as part of its continuing mission to provide training, advocacy and support to advance public education and promote the achievement of all students through effective governance.

Kelly Mitchell, a master board member who once served as the president of the Vernon Township Board of Education and vice president of the Sussex County Board of Education, will serve as a field service representative for Passaic and Sussex counties.

In addition to her board service, Mitchell has spent 20 years as a New Jersey licensed real estate broker, earning the prestigious NJAR Circle of Excellence Award annually. She has also served as a township land use board member and as the Sussex County Association of Realtors ombudsman. She is a passionate advocate for the performing arts.

Dr. Tim Teehan, who has spent 25 years in education as a teacher, administrator and superintendent of schools, will serve as a field service representative for Monmouth County. For the next few months, he will work alongside Mary Ann Friedman, a longtime field service representative with the Association.

In addition to his career in education, Teehan has worked in a variety of roles in the public and private sector, as well as health care. A father of six and grandfather of three, he’s excited about the opportunity to support school districts.
