The National Summit on K-12 School Safety and Security, hosted by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, will bring together federal, state and local school leaders to share actionable recommendations that enhance safe and supportive learning environments in kindergarten through grade 12 schools. Through expert panels and keynote addresses by leaders in the field, the summit will explore threats and issues in school safety and consider research-informed strategies for addressing security challenges.

The 2023 summit will be held virtually on Nov. 1-2, 2023. Registration is now open.

K-12 schools and school systems face a complex set of security risks and contend with dynamic and evolving threats ranging from acts of targeted violence to cyberattacks. Schools also have unique needs, considerations and challenges when it comes to safety and security, underscoring the importance of a collaborative, holistic and actionable approach to the issue.

The summit aims to support the safety and security of our schools by:

  • Fostering a nationwide dialogue by bringing together stakeholders for exchange, discussion and connection.
  • Facilitating action by sharing resources, products and tools to support schools in implementing and strengthening their security postures.
  • Equipping stakeholders with training and expertise to apply recognized best practices and research in the context of their specific communities, venues and schools.

CISA welcomes participation from any individual with a passion for improving school safety. The subject matter covered during the summit is particularly relevant to K-12 school and district administrators; principals and superintendents; school-based law enforcement; teachers and school staff; mental health practitioners; first responders; federal, state, local, tribal and territorial government partners and other school safety and security professionals. There is no cost to attend.
