The New Jersey Department of Education announced in an advisory the opening of the third round of applications for the Securing Our Children’s Future Bond Act School Security Grant. The third round of applications is open to any public school district with a remaining School Security Grant allowance, including those that have not yet submitted a grant application.

Key Steps

Any district that has not applied in previous rounds or has not applied for full allocation in round one (fiscal year 2020) or round two (fiscal year 2022), is eligible to apply for remaining funds. Please reference the October 2020 guidelines for specific program details. Districts that applied for allocation in full do not need to take further action at this time.

District applications must be submitted through the NJDOE Electronic Web Enabled Grant System. Eligible projects include those set forth in the School Security Grant Final Guidelines document and N.J.A.C. 6A:26A-1.4 and N.J.A.C. 6A:26A-4.1 to 4.4, including projects to comply with Alyssa’s Law and the list of other eligible projects set forth on page 12 of the final guidelines. Grant applications are due Feb. 15, 2024.

Please note that access to the School Security Grant system is contingent on approval in the Alyssa’s Law compliance system (also found in EWEG); separate from the grant application.
