Grants for Energy Projects The Gardinier Environmental Fund is contributing $150,000 to support a Sustainable Jersey Grants Program for public school districts and municipal governments that are focused on supporting energy projects and programs. An informational webinar will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 1-2:30 p.m. to provide an overview of the available funding. 2022 Sustainable Jersey for Schools Certification Cycle  The first application deadline for the 2022 Sustainable Jersey for Schools Certification Cycle is Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022. Below is a list of upcoming webinars to assist your school in working towards certification.

Ready, Set, Certified – Thursday, Sept. 30, 2 p.m.-3 p.m.  Learn how to organize at the district and school level for certification success. Register

Digital Schools StarWednesday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m. -11 a.m. The Star Recognition program supports schools in meeting the challenges of digital learning and offers them an opportunity to gain statewide recognition for their digital learning accomplishments. Register

Planning for Recertification – Thursday, Oct. 14, 1:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m.  For schools with certifications expiring in the next year, now is the time to start planning for recertification. This webinar will provide guidance on getting recertified. Register

Grants Program Funded by NJEA  NJEA will award ten $10,000 grants to fund school and district sustainability projects and 40  $2,000 grants to fund school sustainability projects or support green teams. The EmPowered Schools Program  Formerly known as PowerSave Schools, this initiative provides free teacher training, support and resources to educate students about energy efficiency and save on your school’s energy costs. Learn More

The Governor’s Environmental Excellence Awards Program  The program recognizes outstanding environmental performance, programs and projects throughout the state. For more information about the program and qualifications, click here. Application Deadline is Monday, Oct. 11, at 5 p.m.

The United We Create Project (UWC) An arts education program that aligns with character education, social studies, world religion units, and an anti-bullying curriculum, it is designed to promote understanding between Muslim and non-Muslim kindergarten through eighth grade students This program supports the Sustainable Jersey for Schools Arts & Creative Culture suite of actions. The Clean Fleet Electric Vehicle Incentive Program supports local and state governments as they transition their fleets to EVs. In June 2021, New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program dedicated $1 million for local governments for Fiscal Year 2022. Local schools, municipal commissions, state universities, community colleges, and county authorities in addition to municipalities, and municipal utility authorities are eligible.
