Research links involvement in the fine and performing arts to improved school attendance and increased academic performance. Arts education is also correlated with positive social-emotional development in students. To highlight the New Jersey School Boards Association’s (NJSBA’s) commitment to the arts, and the talent and skills of New Jersey public school students, Workshop will showcase several student performances throughout the conference.

NJSBA is looking for students to sing, dance, perform music, or show off other talents to energize the audience. The students will perform on October 20 or 21 on the exhibit floor at the Atlantic City Convention Center. The annual NJSBA/NJASA/NJASBO Workshop Conference will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center from Monday through Thursday, Oct. 19-22, 2020.

Submission Details We urge the art department at your school to submit an application to perform at the Annual Workshop. This could be your opportunity to shine a spotlight on your students in front of school officials from across New Jersey. Performance groups are limited to a maximum of 15 students.

All submissions will receive equal consideration. The deadline for receiving the completed Student Performance Proposal form is May 15, 2020.

Those submitting proposals will be notified of the Associations’ decision by mid-May 2020. For more information, contact Lucia Gershman at lgershman@njsba.org.
