The Lead Person is responsible for oversight of AULCS operations and will report directly to the Board of Trustees. This individual will ensure AULCS’s Charter, bylaws, mission, policies and strategic plan are implemented to the satisfaction of the Board of Trustees. This includes employing an exceptional educational design and fostering a school culture which merges achievement in education with a commitment to social and economic justice. The Lead Person believes both family and community involvement are integral to students’ academic achievement, and will focus on building upon existing and creating new partnerships between AULCS, students, family, and the surrounding community. A nurturing environment will be the result of this joint effort and through providing the five resources identified as essential for healthy child development by the President’s Summit for America’s Future. These include: a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult, a safe place to learn and grow, a healthy start, a marketable skill through effective education, and a chance to give back to peers and the community.
The Lead Person will make available to each student a quality education through rigorous academics which employ a holistic approach. This person will be a champion of service learning, who will espouse the importance of civic and social responsibility. The Lead Person will possess high moral character, leadership skills, conflict resolution abilities, and community responsibility as this person will be a model for this behavior in our students to show them what it means to be contributing members of a democratic society.
