JOHN HENRY, LEED Green Associate
New Jersey School Boards Association, STEM and Sustainable Schools Specialist
Mr. Henry is currently employed with NJSBA as a STEM and Sustainable Schools Specialist. Mr. Henry holds a Master’s Degree in K-12 Industrial Studies and Technology Education and began his career teaching energy and power courses at Montclair State College. In 1981 he was the recipient of a two-year research and development solar energy grant from the Federal Department of Energy.
During his 14 years as a classroom teacher, he coordinated an electric vehicle program at Woodbury HS, co-authored and received a NASA Explorer Schools grant resulting in Woodbury High School receiving the designation as the only NASA Explorer School in NJ at the time and trained teachers in Problem Based Learning. Mr. Henry was NJ’s Technologist of the Year and Radio Shack’s National Teacher in Math, Science, and Technology in 2002, and in 2004-2005 he was selected as a NASA Einstein Fellow serving at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC in the Office of Education, a federal program governed by the Triangle Coalition for Science and Technology Education and the US Department of Energy.
He served on the board of directors and advisory committee for the Alliance for NJ Environmental Education ANJEE), and served two years on the board of directors for the US Green Building Council – NJ Chapter. During that time, he chaired the Green Schools Committee and served as NJ’s Green Schools Advocate representing the NJ chapter and the national US Green Building Council.
In 2010-2013, he was an advisor and curriculum writer for New Jersey’s Green Program of Study in Sustainable Design, Green Construction and Energy for the Department of Education and the NJ Council of County Vocational-Technical Schools grant. In 2012 he was the Co-Principal Investigator for a National Science Foundation (NSF) engineering Cyber learning grant with Rowan University and has a National Institute of Health (NIH) Certificate in Protecting Human Research Participants. Lastly, he has a LEED Green Associate accreditation from US Green Building Council.
KARA ANGOTTI, LEED AP

Kara is a formally educated interior designer with extensive experience in building shell and energy analysis. As a sole proprietor for four years, she focused on achieving a symbiotic relationship between design aesthetics and high performance functionality. While working as an environmental design consultant, she presented recommendations for improved use of space, waste reduction, responsible material selection, and applications to lower operating expenses. Her dedication to local economy and environmentally-conscious resources enabled Kara to deliver projects with a triple bottom line approach.
Kara maintains an active social media presence which includes 50+ videos on her YouTube channel, regular blog entries, and industry highlights. These online outlets update her followers on current projects and strengthens her position as an engaged and forward-looking industry professional.
Kara’s entrepreneurial approach, creative solutions, and experience in government programs align with her Fellow responsibilities at NJ School Boards Association. She’ll be responsible for training key school district leaders on best practices for their facilities, assisting pilot school districts to employ sustainability measures, and tracking data to prove the effectiveness of these measurable goals.
