Certification-Revocation  Counselor was convicted in Pennsylvania of official oppression. Counselor agreed to relinquish his certificate with the force and effect of a revocation and all attendant consequences, and his school counselor certificate was therefore revoked.  Certificate of Wasser 3/8/2019.

Teacher was arrested and criminally charged with making terroristic threats. Teacher agreed to relinquish his certificates with the force and effect of a revocation and all attendant consequences.  His certificates, which included various elementary teaching and special education certificates, were therefore revoked.  Certificates of Acosta 3/8/2019.

Teacher pled guilty to criminal sexual contact, and was ordered to forfeit his teaching certificates pursuant to a consent order as well as disqualified from public employment. Teacher agreed to relinquish his certificates with the force and effect of revocation and all attendant consequences. Accordingly, teacher’s teacher of art certificate of eligibility with advanced standing and teacher of art non-citizen standard certificate are revoked.  Certificates of Campoverde 4/12/2019.

Teacher pled guilty to aggravated sexual assault-supervisory position over victim and endangering the welfare of a child-engaging in sexual conduct with a minor. Teacher agree to relinquish her certificates with the force and effect of a revocation and all attendant consequences in her affidavit to that effect to the board. Consequently, the teacher’s teacher of elementary school in grades N through 8 certificate of eligibility with advanced standing, teacher of students with disabilities certificate of eligibility and teacher of elementary school in grades N through 8 certificates were revoked.  Certificates of Coyle-Mitchell 4/12/2019.

Teacher had been indicted on charges of possession of child pornography and convicted of a disqualifying offense under Illinois law, and his educator license was later revoked in Illinois. The Board found that his conduct constituted conduct “unacceptable for a role model,” and revoked his New Jersey teacher of music certificate of eligibility with advanced standing.  Certificates of Hornish 4/12/2019.

Teacher plead guilty to charge of theft by unlawful taking and was sentenced to two years’ probation and ordered to forfeit current and future public employment. Teacher was disqualified from public school employment. Board found that the conduct constituted conduct unbecoming, and had just cause to revoke the teacher’s teacher of elementary school in grades K-8 certificate of eligibility with advance standing and his supervisor certificate.  Certificates of Lodgek 4/12/2019.

Teacher pled guilty in federal court to Conspiracy to Commit Healthcare Fraud and was disqualified from public school employment under N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1. Board found that his conduct was unbecoming conduct, and that it had just cause to revoke his Teacher of English Certificate of Eligibility as well as his Teacher of English certificate.  Certificates of McAllister 3/8/2019.

Teacher was brought up on tenure charges following multiple incidents in which he made inappropriate comments to and directed inappropriate conduct toward female students, and injured a student’s eye after throwing a pencil at the student. The Board found that his conduct constituted conduct unbecoming, and that there was just cause to revoke his teacher of social studies certificate of eligibility with advanced standing and his teacher of social studies certificate. Teacher was convicted in Pennsylvania of forgery-unauthorized act in writing and theft by deception-false impression. Teacher’s certificates had previously been revoked in Pennsylvania for approximately five months about a decade earlier due to allegations that the teacher defrauded the district, students, and parents while teaching in a fiduciary role. The Board found that his conduct constituted unbecoming conduct, and that it had just cause to revoke his New Jersey teacher of music certificate of eligibility with advanced standing and teacher of music certificate.  Certificates of Monath 3/8/2019.

Teacher was found to have engaged in conduct unbecoming after he was indicted for burglary and terroristic threats following an incident in which he attacked a real estate agent and threatened her, such that she was in fear of her life. In criminal proceeding, teacher was found not guilty by reason of insanity. Board revoked his Teacher of Physical Education certificate—unfitness to hold a position can be shown by one incident and the facts showed that he was not fit to be around students.  Certificates of Posselt 3/8/2019.

Teacher pled guilty to obstruction of the administration of law-obstruct criminal investigation, and was sentenced to 18 months’ probation and also ordered to forfeit her teaching certificate. Teacher agreed to relinquish certificate with force and effect of a revocation. Consequently, her teacher of health and physical education certificate of eligibility with advanced standing was revoked.  Certificates of Rosewall 4/12/2019.

Teacher agreed to relinquish his certificates, which included Teacher of English Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing and a Teacher of English certificate, after pleading guilty to Endangering-Abuse/Neglect of a Child by a Caretaker. Substitute teacher pled guilty to charge of resisting arrest/eluding and was sentenced to one year of probation—as a result, he was disqualified from public school employment. Board found that he engaged in unbecoming conduct, and that it had just cause to revoke his substitute credential.  Credential of Bradley 4/12/2019.

Substitute pled guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced to 8 years in prison and 3 years’ parole upon release, and was also ordered to forfeit his teaching certificate. Substitute agreed to relinquish his credential with the force and effect of a revocation and all attendant consequences. Accordingly, the Board revoked his substitute credential.  Credential of Nwatu 4/12/2019.

Substitute teacher was charged with theft by deception and entered a pre-trial intervention program for 36 months thereafter. Board found that this constituted unbecoming conduct, and that it had just cause to revoke his substitute credential.  Credential of Taylor 3/8/2019.

Certification-Suspension  Defendant agreed to relinquishment of her certificates, which included principal and school administrator certificates of eligibility and speech correctionist, teacher of the handicapped, teacher of elementary school, supervisor, principal, and school administrator certificates. Florida Education Practices Commission entered into a settlement suspending defendant’s certificate for 18 months following allegations that she was under the influence of alcohol while on duty and in the presence of students. Board revoked her Teacher of Nursey School and Teacher of Elementary School in Grades K-8 certificates. Because defendant’s conduct constituted unbecoming conduct, that Board found that it had just cause to revoke her certificates.  Certificates of Haun 3/8/2019.

Teacher guilty to a third DWI incident, with the charge being Driving While Intoxicated-Parent/Guardian with Minor in Vehicle, and was sentenced to, among other things, 180 days of jail time. The Board found that conduct unbecoming could be based on one incident, and that there were two minors in the car rendered this incident sufficiently flagrant. However, instead of revoking the defendant’s teacher of the handicapped certificate, the board imposed a 4-year suspension of his certificate because, among other reasons, he had a previously unblemished teacher career, and the district allowed him to keep teaching despite the conviction, speaking highly to his teaching ability.
