To assist you on your journey, NJSBA provides support in all areas of board membership, including representation and advocacy, training, and information and publications. We also have video resources available through the NJSBA YouTube channel and our Parent Connections web portal. Onsite assistance and consultation are available through the field services, labor relations, legal, and policy resources departments. We also offer a wealth of cost-saving programs, so you can invest more money back into the classroom.

Governance I: New Board Member Orientation
The School District Accountability Act requires training for first-term school board members and charter school trustees in their first, second and third years of office, as well as for reappointed/re-elected members. New board members must take Governance I: New Board Member Orientation in the first year of their first term of service.
NJSBA offers several opportunities for them to fulfill this requirement through any of three formats: weekend, one-day, and online orientation programs. Completion of any course format satisfies the requirements of the School Ethics Act.
