Vacancy Notice – Business Administrator/Board Secretary

The Delran Township School District, a K-12 district committed to excellence and innovation, is accepting applications for a Business Administrator/Board Secretary. The Business Administrator/Board Secretary shall strive to achieve district goals for pupils by providing leadership and supervision in the district program of fiscal management and in other assigned programs, and by acting as a proper model for staff and pupils both inside and outside the school district.

The Board Secretary/Business Administrator shall be responsible for performing the duties of the internal control/audit of financial transactions of the district approved by and/or involving the Superintendent and the Board of Education, and to effect notices of deficiency or discrepancy, when warranted, with appropriate external agencies. The School Business Administrator/Board Secretary fulfills a central role in planning and analysis of budget, expenditures, programs, and support systems, in a high-achieving district serving 3,000 pupils with 4 schools and an annual operating budget of over $50 million.

Additionally, well-qualified candidates will be afforded the opportunity to perform the following:

  • Oversight of departments and supervisors responsible for finance, payroll, accounts, purchasing, buildings and grounds, technology, transportation, and food services
  • Facilitation of long-range planning for capital projects and budgets
  • Fulfillment of statutory responsibilities of the position of Board Secretary
  • Collaboration in support of the mission of the school district
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills

Qualifications:   

  • Master’s Degree
  • Valid New Jersey School Business Administrator Standard or Certificate of Eligibility.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a School Business Administrator or Assistant School Business Administrator/Board Secretary.
  • Minimum of three (3) years administrative experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills and use oral and written communication and public relation skills interchangeably.
