The Glen Rock Board of Education is seeking an experienced and highly qualified educational leader to serve as Interim Superintendent of Schools beginning September 1, 2026. The Board anticipates this to be a full-time position for a minimum initial term of approximately four (4) months, with the duration dependent upon the appointment and start date of the district’s next permanent superintendent.

The Glen Rock Public School District serves a vibrant and highly engaged community in Bergen County, New Jersey. The Borough of Glen Rock has a population of approximately 12,000 residents and is known for its strong commitment to public education.
The district educates approximately 2,600 students across six schools:
- Four elementary schools (PreK–5)
- One middle school (6–8)
- One high school (9–12)
The district is supported by approximately 400+ staff members and operates with an annual budget of approximately $65–70 million. Glen Rock Public Schools is recognized for strong academic performance, a comprehensive co-curricular program, and a deeply involved parent and community base.
Position Overview
The Interim Superintendent will provide steady leadership and ensure continuity of district operations during a transitional period. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Board of Education, district administration, staff, and community stakeholders to maintain stability, support ongoing initiatives, and prepare the district for its next permanent superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Oversee personnel management, including staffing, evaluation, and labor relations
- Ensure effective fiscal management and oversight of the district budget
- Maintain focus on student achievement and well-being
- Support safe, secure, and inclusive school environments
- Communicate clearly, consistently, and transparently with all stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with all NJDOE regulations, including Special Education requirements
- Partner with the Board of Education to support governance and strategic priorities
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey School Administrator Certificate
- Prior experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or central office administrator
- Demonstrated leadership in a high-performing K–12 school district
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving in an interim leadership role
- Strong background in community engagement and public communication
- Demonstrated ability to lead in districts with high expectations and active community involvement
- Experience navigating personnel, budget, and governance matters during periods of transition

Compensation
- $700 per day (based on experience and schedule)
