Washington Township Public Schools, a PreK–12 school district, seeks a dynamic, creative, and student centered educational leader to serve as our next Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. This role is designed for an instructional visionary who believes deeply in the power of great teaching, meaningful learning, and thoughtful innovation. We are looking for a leader who is energized by being in classrooms across all grade levels, who partners closely with educators to strengthen practice, and who approaches curriculum, assessment, and professional learning as living systems that evolve to meet the needs of students. - Valid New Jersey School Administrator Certificate or Principal Certificate of Eligibility/Standard Certificate required.
- Master’s Degree required
- Successful experience as a classroom teacher and building-level administrator preferred, with a demonstrated passion for teaching and learning
- Strong understanding of curriculum design, instructional practice, and the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, with the ability to translate standards into engaging, meaningful learning experiences
- Demonstrated ability to serve as an instructional leader who inspires innovation, supports reflective practice, and leads continuous improvement across classrooms and schools
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators to design, refine, and implement instructional best practices that elevate student learning
- Capacity to collaboratively design and lead a comprehensive, forward-thinking professional development program for a PreK–12 school district
- Demonstrated ability to supervise instruction, including observing practice, providing feedback, coaching staff, and supporting professional growth
- Ability to serve as a key member of a central leadership team and deliver instructional vision, coherence, and support to all district personnel
- Capacity to partner with district leaders and staff to design and implement a cohesive, districtwide professional development plan aligned to instructional goals
- Ability to provide leadership in establishing both short- and long-range instructional priorities that are responsive to student needs and future-focused
- Ability to analyze state and local assessment data, identify trends, and drive instructional improvement through thoughtful, data-informed decision making
- Ability to make clear, well-reasoned recommendations regarding curriculum, instruction, and program design, balancing innovation with sound educational practice
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills, with the ability to engage educators, administrators, families, and the Board of Education in productive instructional dialogue
- Working knowledge of New Jersey education laws, regulations, and mandates, including NJQSAC, NJDOE reporting requirements, and board governance, with the ability to apply them in service of instructional excellence
- Understanding of federal, state, and district assessment systems, including standardized testing programs, and the ability to use results to inform instruction
- Commitment to the development and expansion of gifted and talented programming and enrichment opportunities for diverse learners
- Ability to collaborate with technology integration specialists to leverage digital tools and online learning platforms in ways that enhance instruction, creativity, and student engagement
