Mr. Barry Walker was elected Vice President for County Activities for the New Jersey School Boards Association in May 2025.
Barry brings a decade of dedicated service to public education, currently serving the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional Board of Education since 2014, including a term as President and Vice President. His extensive local committee involvement includes chairing Community Relations, Finance, Facilities and Transportation, and Negotiations alongside service on Academic and Personnel committees. He has also severed at the liaison to the Educational Foundation of BR and Council of Schools. He has been a Board of Directors Representative to the Somerset County Educational Services Commission since 2017 as an Executive Committee Member (2018-Present), Vice President (2022-2023), and currently as President (2023-Present).
At the county level, Barry has been a significant leader, serving as President of the Somerset County School Board Association and Vice President.
His commitment extends to the state level, where he was the NJSIAA NJSBA At-Large Representative (2024-2025). He has also contributed to the Governance 1 Task Force, served as a New Board Member Small Group Leader, and was a member of the Strategic Planning Committee. He is a Certified Board Leader, having achieved numerous NJSBA certifications, and has presented at Workshop on effective board governance. His passion lies in empowering board members, sharing best practices, and promoting student achievement through collaborative leadership and inclusive engagement.
With a BS in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University and graduate studies in Electrical Engineering at Loyola University Maryland, Barry is currently self-employed as a consultant and volunteer. He enjoys spending time with his family (Lorraine and Sarah), playing golf, walking the family dog Tux for miles and watching soccer.
