In an August 2026 memo, New Jersey’s Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA) announced the opening of the 2026-2027 application period for their NJ Teacher Loan Redemption Program.

The program aims to bolster the educator workforce by offering teachers up to $20,000 in student loan relief in exchange for teaching in a “high-need field” at eligible schools for up to four years, per the program’s authorizing statute (NJSA 18A:71C-83).  Applications are due 11:59pm ET September 30, 2026.
