Demonstrating a profound commitment to the communities they serve, the full memberships of both the Clayton and Winslow Township boards of education recently reached a major professional milestone, earning official NJSBA Board Certification.
The achievement was celebrated in front of regional education leaders at the joint Camden/Gloucester County School Boards Association meeting on Thursday, May 7, at the Adelphia Restaurant in Deptford.

On hand to present the plaques was Dr. Tim Teehan, stepping in to honor the boards on behalf of NJSBA Field Service Representative Dr. Laurie Bandlow. Bandlow, who worked hand-in-hand with both leadership teams throughout the rigorous certification process, praised their collective work ethic and focus on continuous improvement.
The NJSBA Board Certification requires a unified effort. To qualify, every single member of the governance team must participate in intensive, structured training sessions. This comprehensive curriculum challenges trustees to sharpen their skills across four foundational pillars of effective school board governance:
- Policy & Finance
- Strategic Planning
- Ethics & Governance
- Community & Achievement

By completing this demanding pathway, the Clayton and Winslow Township school boards have set a powerful example of what it means to lead by example, proving that a district’s success begins with a highly trained, collaborative governance team.
Representing the Clayton Board of Education, the certified team includes Paul Connell, Robin Roche, Robert Fedore, Quay Foster, Susan Giordano, and Crystal Greene.
