On Wednesday, June 3, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) announced the opening of its annual application for menstrual product reimbursement.
Pursuant to P.L.2023, c.147, school districts, charter schools, and renaissance school projects must ensure that students in each school educating students in grades six through 12, or any combination thereof, have direct access to free menstrual products in at least 50 percent of female and gender-neutral school bathrooms, if applicable. The law specifies that the state will reimburse school districts for the costs of implementing this requirement.
Districts are now invited to submit requests for the reimbursement of related costs for the 2025-2026 school year. The application “Menstrual Product Reimbursement Program” can be found on NJDOE Homeroom. Applications must be received no later than June 30, 2026.
For additional guidance regarding the application and accounting procedures, please refer to NJDOE’s May 8, 2024 broadcast memo and the guidance included in the application system.
Questions regarding the Menstrual Product Reimbursement Program data collection process should be submitted to NJDOE’s Office of School Finance at staid@doe.nj.gov
