In a July 22 broadcast memo, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) announced that, as part of its ongoing update of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in Computer Science and Design Thinking (CS&DT), Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), and World Languages (WL), it is engaging stakeholders in supporting the implementation of the revised standards and examining their alignment with college, career, and civic readiness expectations.
Specifically, the NJDOE is forming Implementation Committees and College-and Career-Readiness committees for each standard area. The Implementation Committees will review the proposed revised standards, identify implementation opportunities and challenges, and provide recommendations to inform the development of professional learning resources, instructional supports, implementation guidance, and other materials that support successful statewide implementation. The College-and Career-Readiness Committees will review the proposed revised standards through the lens of postsecondary education, workforce expectations, and career pathways, and provide feedback regarding their alignment with college, career, and civic readiness expectations
