On Sept. 16, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) published a broadcast memo detailing reporting requirements for assessment results following the Spring 2026 New Jersey Student Learning Assessments-Adaptive (NJSLA-A) and New Jersey Student Learning Assessment-Science (NJSLA-S). 

Receipt of Individual Student Reports (ISRs) 

Local education agencies (LEAs) and approved private schools for students with disabilities (APSSDs) can expect to receive Individual Student Reports (ISRs) and aggregate school and district level data in the Centralized Reporting System (CRS) no later than Oct. 9, 2026, for both the NJSLA-A and NJSLA-S. The 30-day deadline date for LEAs to distribute ISRs to parents/guardians is Nov. 9, 2026. 

ISRs will be sent to both the sending and receiving organization for students who receive their instruction at a school other than their accountable school. Once LEAs receive their ISRs for NJSLA-A and NJSLA-S, the accountable LEA must distribute them to the parents/guardians within 30 days. 

The NJDOE encourages LEAs to share the ISRs with students’ families as soon as practicable to facilitate the timely distribution of student results. To support these communication efforts, sample parent cover letters are linked in the LEA Communication Resources section of the broadcast. 

District and State Reporting 

For NJSLA-A and NJSLA-S, summative and summary files will be made available electronically to assigned school and district staff on Sept. 18, 2026. The NJDOE strongly encourages school and district leaders to review, analyze, and discuss all assessment results with staff as soon as possible. 

Reporting Requirement to Local Boards of Education 

LEAs must report statewide assessment results to local school boards within 60 days of receiving the last set of paper ISRs for all spring-administered assessments. The deadline for reporting to local boards of education is Dec. 8, 2026. This includes the NJSLA-A and DLM results for ELA and mathematics, the NJSLA-S, WIDA ACCESS, WIDA Alternate ACCESS, and the NJGPA-A. The report must include aggregated and disaggregated subgroup data, comparative analyses, and appropriate intervention strategies. The number of students for reporting purposes is a minimum of 10, as per suppression rules applied to student data to protect student confidentiality.
