The New Jersey School Boards Association recently launched Capitol Watch, a new quarterly online newsletter designed to support one of its three organizational pillars: advocacy.

“This newsletter reflects NJSBA’s mission to empower and support New Jersey’s local boards of education by providing critical updates on pending legislation that could significantly impact our schools, students and communities,” said Dr. Timothy Purnell, executive director and CEO of the Association.

From funding initiatives and transportation legislation to school security measures and curriculum proposals, the decisions made in Trenton profoundly shape the educational landscape. To help you navigate this terrain, Capitol Watch offers a single, easy-to-access source of information about key legislative developments.

The NJSBA’s Governmental Relations team is currently tracking nearly 1,800 pieces of legislation at the State House, and Capitol Watch will provide concise summaries of pending bills, updates on their progress and NJSBA’s official positions. “By keeping you informed and engaged, this newsletter aims to strengthen our collective ability to advocate for policies that advance education in the Garden State,” Purnell said.

He added that launching Capitol Watch aligns with one the Association’s key organizational goals for the year: enhancing communication and connection with members. “We are proud to equip you with the resources and knowledge you need to fulfill your critical role as an education leader,” Purnell said.
