School board presidents and vice presidents are invited to join us on Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for NJSBA’s Unified Governance Summit: Leading with Purpose. Governing as One.

In today’s complex educational landscape, a board’s internal health directly impacts student outcomes. This is not just another seminar, it’s a high-impact, hands-on workshop designed for board of education leaders ready to move from friction to focus.

Using our “Learn-Apply-Reflect” model, we will dive deep into the legal, strategic, and cultural frameworks necessary for high-functioning governance.

The Four Core Modules

  1. Regionalization & Efficiency: Navigate the NJ SREP grant landscape and the 2026 pilot milestones. Learn to handle “regionalization rumors” with transparency and poise.
  2. Advanced Governance: Stop “doing” and start “overseeing.” Move from micromanagement to vision-based leadership using Iowa Lighthouse principles.
  3. Internal Team Dynamics: Conduct a “board health check” to audit your team’s trust and communication processes. Turn dissent into a tool for better decision-making.
  4. Crisis & Conflict: Master the “point of order.” Practice scripts for de-escalating challenging public comments and managing “rogue” board members.

The Experience

  • Small-Group Breakouts: Organized by district configuration (K-8 vs. K-12) for context-specific problem-solving.
  • Real-World Simulations: Practice role-playing the exact scenarios you face in your board room.
  • Actionable Tools: Walk away with communication audits, SWOT analyses, and “governance response” scripts.

The Unified Governance Summit will take place at the West Windsor Plainsboro School District Central Office, located in West Windsor, NJ. Members will receive 3 Board Member Academy credits for attending. To register, please click here.
