At its Feb. 5, 2025, public meeting, the New Jersey State Board of Education approved the following rulemaking for publication in the March 3, 2025, New Jersey Register, according to an advisory from the New Jersey Department of Education.
Proposed amendments to N.J.A.C. 6A:32, School District Operations, which sets forth rules related to the daily operation of public schools and school districts. The proposed amendments will align the chapter with P.L. 2023, c. 274, which allows public school students in grades six through 12 to have one state-excused absence each school year for the purpose of attending a civic event.

The State Board values public input in all matters regarding code promulgation. Public testimony on the proposed amendments is scheduled to be held April 2, 2025. Registration for public testimony will open March 13, 2025, and close at noon March 27, 2025.
