In a pair of August 5 broadcast memos, the New Jersey Department of Education provided various updates to the Spring 2026 New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment-Adaptive (NJGPA-A) assessment program.
- Cut Scores / Class of 2027 Graduation Assessment Requirements: At its August meeting, the State Board of Education adopted the proficiency level cut scores for the NJGPA-A. The broadcast also confirms that cut scores for the menu of alternative assessments for the class of 2027 will remain the same as they were for the classes of 2024-2026. The Portfolio Appeals process will also continue to be available for the class of 2027.
- Spring 2026 NJGPA-A Results Timeline: District Test Coordinators will receive digital Individual Student Reports, as well as aggregate school and district reporting, on August 17; paper ISRs will be sent to districts by September 4, triggering the regulatory requirement to distribute results to parents/guardians within 30 days (by October 5). Districts should note that the regulatory requirement to report results to their local BOEs is not triggered until receipt of the last set of paper individual student reports for all spring-administered assessments – though districts may report results earlier than the formal deadline. The NJDOE will provide that additional timeline information in a future broadcast.
