Karen Cortellino, M.D. was elected vice president for legislation/resolutions of the New Jersey School Boards Association during the organization’s Delegate Assembly on May 18, 2019.

A member of the Montville Township Board of Education, Dr. Cortellino will serve a two-year term in the volunteer position.

Dr. Cortellino has served as president of the Morris County School Boards Association and the Montville Township School Board.  She has been a member of every standing board committee, as well as various ad hoc committees.  Dr. Cortellino also serves as Liaison to the Cedar Hill School Home and School Association.  She has earned the designations of Certified Board Member, Master Board Member and Certified Board Leader through the NJSBA Board Member Academy.

Cortellino graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York, Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara Medical School, and received post-graduate training at Maryland General Hospital.  Cortellino works at the Pink Breast Center, an imaging facility dedicated to women’s health. She also served as chair of the 2018 Montville Good Scout Award, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Towaco Civic Association, One Montville and One Montville Response Team.
