In 2002, the Bergen County School Boards Association established the Janet S. Lobsenz Award, named in honor of the long-term New Jersey School Boards Association field service representative and former Bergen County school board member Janet S. Lobsenz.
This award recognizes an individual board member who exemplifies Lobsenz’s strong commitment to personal and professional development and her involvement in local, county and state school governance. To be eligible for this award, the nominee must have achieved Certified Board Member status through the NJSBA Board Member Academy. Marie Bilik, past NJSBA executive director, was honored to judge and present the award.
The 2024 Janet S. Lobsenz Award recipient is Mary Katherine Norian from the Oradell School District Board of Education.
