Organized by the New Jersey School Boards Association and members of the Associate Membership Program for School Attorneys, the 2024 Spring School Law program returns Tuesday, June 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the DoubleTree By Hilton in Monroe Township.

The 2024 Spring School Law Forum will offer a comprehensive overview of recent advancements and upcoming challenges in school law from experienced school attorneys. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Legislative and case law update by NJSBA staff.
  • Artificial intelligence in schools.
  • Review of the recently released Title IX regulations.
  • First Amendment: student protests, sit-ins, walk-outs and staff participation.
  • Sanjuan and arbitrator authority: the juxtaposition of board of examiners and tenure cases.
  • Subcontracting, Chapter 79: in and outside of negotiations.
  • Special education settlement panel discussion: C.P. v. NJDOE.
  • School official ethics.
  • School attorney ethics.

Registration for the Spring School Law Forum must be handled by your school business administrator. Business administrators who want to register officials from their districts should have a scanned purchase order ready to attach to the registration. The member fee is $299 and the nonmember fee is $598. The Spring School Law Forum offers three Board Member Academy credits, 7.0 Continuing Legal Education credits (pending), and one statewide/regional professional development credit. Register here.
