The New Jersey School Boards Association, which sponsors a film category in New Jersey’s largest film festival, is inviting students to submit entries into its category “N.J. Hometown Documentary Short (under 5 minutes)” in the annual Garden State Film Festival.
Entries must be documentary film shorts that are written, directed, and shot by students.
The deadline for entries is Jan. 8, 2024.
The films must focus on some aspect of the student’s hometown, such as a profile of an interesting person, place, time period or subject related to the arts.
Winners will be showcased at the Garden State Film Festival and receive all the benefits of selected filmmakers.
The winning school district will receive $500 to support film/video equipment for the curriculum. Winners will be announced in March.
