Vince DeLucia, special assignments at the New Jersey School Boards Association, has been unanimously appointed to serve a three-year term on Rutgers University’s School of Management and Labor Relations State Advisory Council.

The council is a select group of advisers who provide the university with insights and perspectives on the goals and priorities of Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations.

Established by the statute that created the original Institute of Management and Labor Relations in 1947, the SAC is composed of representatives and leaders from management, labor and the public. Members are regionally or nationally prominent in their field with a strong background in public service and community engagement.

DeLucia certainly fits that description: In his role at the NJSBA, where he has worked more than 11 years, DeLucia leverages his National Board Certified Teacher credential and his Master of Arts degrees in both educational administration and curriculum and instruction to provide professional learning and executive coaching to education professionals and decision-makers. He has developed and facilitated workshops on topics such as leadership, communication, mental health, diversity, equity, inclusion and career readiness.

His overarching mission is to help transform twenty-first century schools and prepare all students for the future. He is passionate about social emotional learning, eliminating unconscious bias and engaging in effective, respectful communication.

Prior to joining the NJSBA, DeLucia provided total school growth professional learning through Kean University and the Regional Training Center, served as a teacher and administrator in South Brunswick plus as a middle school principal and director of curriculum and instruction, was mayor of South Brunswick Township and also worked in the pharmaceutical/medical device industry.

“I am honored to be serving on the SAC of Rutgers University’s School of Management and Labor Relations,” DeLucia said. “The mission of the school clearly aligns with my lifelong passion of providing students and young adults the skills they need to succeed and make the world a better place.”

DeLucia was nominated to serve on the SAC by the dean of the School of Management and Labor Relations and appointed by the Rutgers Board of Governors. He will have the opportunity to renew his three-year appointment at the discretion of the dean.
