The Branchburg Township Board of Education is searching for a passionate and innovative educational leader to serve as our new Superintendent.  We are a high-performing suburban pK-8 school district which, in partnership with our community, abides by our mission statement to inspire our children to learn, think, grow and excel in life.

The Branchburg Township School District is small and tightly-knit, offering both a warm community feel and academic rigor, with a strong focus on meeting and exceeding academic performance expectations, including state assessments. Our district is defined by its supportive environment and dedicated staff.  All of us are deeply committed to the whole child, fostering academic and personal growth through a rich curriculum that includes art, music, and technology labs.  Our strong community involvement and engaged parent-teacher organizations are special points of pride, and our facilities support both student programs and robust community use.  We work closely with community organizations and our local Police Department to ensure a rich and safe educational experience for all our students.  The Branchburg Education Foundation is another significant force in elevating our educational environment and programs.  We as a Board of Education are seeking a leader who is eager to build on BTSD’s solid foundation and become a visible, integral part of the Branchburg community.

We educate just over 1,400 students in grades PreK to 8 in three school buildings:  Whiton Elementary (pK-3), Stony Brook School (grades 4 & 5) and Branchburg Central Middle School (grades 6-8).  Our students continue their educational journey at Somerville High School in Somerville, Somerset County Vocational and Technical Schools, or private high schools.  We employ a dedicated, highly-valued staff of 201 certificated and 111 non-certificated professionals.  Our 13-member administrative team comprises 3 Principals, 1 Vice Principal, 6 Directors, 1 Safety & Security Coordinator, 1 District Culture & Climate Coordinator, and 1 Supervisor of Student Support Services. Our budget is approximately $50m.

The BTSD BOE is seeking candidates who are strong communicators.  We are looking for a superintendent who will visibly engage with staff, parents, and the wider community, and who will work collaboratively with the Board of Education and central office staff in order to serve as an enthusiastic, unifying partner.  Experienced candidates who have proven expertise in budgeting, resource allocation, and financial planning will be closely considered.  Educational leaders who have the ability to relate to and inspire staff while fostering a positive, supportive work environment for our dedicated team of 100% licensed teachers are urged to apply.  Since safety is so central to our mission, the Branchburg Superintendent of Schools must work collaboratively with local law enforcement, staff, families, and community partners to maintain a secure environment, while fostering a positive school culture that supports student mental health and resilience. Candidates who have demonstrated success or who have experience with referendum campaigns for capital projects or operational needs are especially desired.

NJ School Administrator certificate or CE and a record of successful leadership in an educational setting required; successful Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent experience highly desired. Central Office experience preferred.  Experience in a pK-8 district similar to Branchburg is a plus. Experience as a classroom teacher is strongly preferred.

Salary range is $175K—$220K, commensurate with experience.  Salary is subject to NJ State regulations and the approval of the Branchburg Township BOE and the Somerset County Executive County Superintendent.
