This is a newly created position due to continued growth and expansion of the leadership team at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit. The Assistant to the Executive Director is accountable for the strategic visioning and administration of various departments and serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. The position is responsible for providing leadership, supervising and directing the programs within the organization and/or program specific activities as directed. The Assistant to the Executive Director is accountable for planning, implementing, and administering a comprehensive program of supports and technical assistance to ensure the optimum delivery of educational services to member school districts and other educational entities. The focus of this position will begin with Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Pupil Services, and Human Resources.

The Assistant to the Executive Director assists the Executive Director in the day-to-day administration of Intermediate Unit programs operated under the policies established by the Board of Directors and governed by state and federal laws, regulations, and standards using effective organizational and communications skills. This position is expected to provide leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive system of services and programs.

Furthermore, this position is responsible for ensuring there are proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, financial controls for large scale budgets, and people systems are in place to effectively grow the organization. Key to this position is entrepreneurialism as Intermediate Units are service organizations and must evolve based on the needs of our stakeholders, working closely with Boards and customers.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in related field, a Doctorate is preferred.
  • Candidates must hold Curriculum and Instruction Supervisory and/or Principal Certification, a Letter of Eligibility and experience with Students Services is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive educational administrative experience is required, including experience as a Principal, Director of Special Education or Pupil Service; Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent experience is preferred.

Compensation

Compensation and a comprehensive benefits package for this role is competitive with a salary range of $162,986-$195,584.
