Teacher Contract Wellness Check

As part of this new initiative, public school districts will receive an analysis of two mandatory teacher contract clauses including expiring salary guides and healthcare; plus, analysis for up to three additional clauses of their choosing.

With each analysis, districts can also expect more expedient service, an optional virtual one-on-one session with an NJSBA staff member, and a legal update on public school negotiations.

The following topics are examples of the three additional contract clauses you may choose to include in your wellness check:

  • Leaves of absence
  • Grievance procedures
  • Workday/school year
  • Negotiations procedures
  • Tuition reimbursement/professional development

Please note this dues based service is available once per district per school year (7/1 – 6/30).

*Additional analysis outside the five free annual teacher union contract clause reviews, are $150 per clause.

Teacher Salary Guide Wellness Check

Districts and their staff/board negotiations committee can get an optional virtual conference with an NJSBA staff member, labor credits toward Board Certification under the NJSBA’s Board Member Academy, a legal update concerning public school negotiations, and recent contract settlement data.

The teacher’s salary guide evaluation includes:

  • A structural analysis of the base year, which is the last year of the expiring salary guide and the same base year of the union’s proposal.
  • A cost of increment analysis of the expiring salary guide;
  • A costing analysis of the first set of proposed salary guides
  • A detailed memo outlining the findings

Please note this dues-based service is available once per district per school year (7/1 – 6/30).

*Additional unit salary guide analysis (examples include secretaries, custodians, paraprofessionals) and/or any subsequent counter-proposals is $150/hour.
