Nominations are now being accepted for the NJSBA’s 2026-2027 Board Member of the Year Award.

This award recognizes a local school board member whose work exemplifies commitment not only to the children of their community, but also to public education throughout the state of New Jersey. The winner will be recognized at NJSBA’s Workshop 2026 in Atlantic City!

 You are encouraged to nominate a board member who you believe has been an outstanding trustee of public education. Nominations can be submitted by fellow board of education members, district administrators, district staff, and members of the community.

Nomination Criteria

•             Current member of a local board of education at the time the application is received;

•             Served a minimum of 5 consecutive years on their local board of education;

•             Certified Board Member through the NJSBA Board Member Academy;

•             Demonstrated leadership, service and contribution to education at the local, county and state levels.

•             NJSBA officers are not eligible to nominate or be nominated for this award.

 The deadline for receipt of nominations is 4:30 p.m., July 3, 2026.
