Honored, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and elevating great teachers, empowers students and families to provide teachers with affirmation. Each month of the school year, Honored shines a spotlight on a teacher who impacted a student’s life, naming them a recipient of the Honored National Teaching Award. This recognition highlights extraordinary educators who inspire their students.
Omar Lisojo, a high school English teacher at Dover High School in Dover, New Jersey, is the recipient of the October Honored National Teaching Award.

With a philosophy based on the acknowledgement that we are all human and deserve someone who sees and cares about us, Mr. Lisojo was nominated by several of his students and is credited with changing their lives.
